righting a wrong

Wednesday 10 October 2012

A while ago now we featured this delightful SIDEBOARD which we understood was designed by Nils Jonsson for Hugo Troeds. And we said as much. And that was that. And then, just the other day, we received a comment on the original post which read "It's actually designed by Yngve Eckstrom for Troeds". And off we went. Turns out there are a few of these sideboards floating around, some attributed to Nils Jonsson and others to Yngve Ekström. And then bingo. BRA BOHAG, an Edinburgh based shop specialising in mid-century furniture, recently sold a SIDEBOARD just like this one. And the fun doesn't stop there. Oh no. Their helpful description of "a small Swedish Bra Bohag sideboard designed by Yngve Ekström, and made by Troeds" was accompanied by this very helpful photograph.

So there you have it.  Yngve Ekström not Nils Jonsson.

  1. With all the unmarked furniture out there, it's inevitable that we all have to issue a correction at some time or another. Eventually a photograph like this one will surface, and the mystery is solved, but we still have a few pieces on the back burner that we have never been able to identify.

    1. Having thought we were sticklers when it comes to due diligence, we've been proved wrong in that respect - just hope this sort of thing doesn't happen too often.
